On a daily basis people stop by the Source and ask us what we are all about and the answer is simple – we are all about community and “community is everything”.
To get a sense what we mean, take a look at this past week and see some the things that happen on a daily and weekly basis. Also, don’t hesitate to stop by. We’d love to give you a tour of the facilities and give you an explanation of our services and programmes.
Internet Cafe and Document Centre: The Source provides access to computers and printers help people with their personal live and professional lives. Some of the services include internet access, printing, copying, scanning, and faxing. Computers are also loaded with learn-to-type software as well as literacy programmes.
Basic Computer Lessons: At the Source we provide basic computer lessons to persons interested. There are weekly classes in bigger sessions and also one-on-one tutoring. Our youngest student is 4 and our oldest is 85 so there really isn’t any excuse for anyone to say they cannot learn how to use the computer. The only two things needed is a primary school level of literacy and motivation. Talk to the front desk about how to sign-up for a lesson or class.
Homework Programme: Thanks to a generous donation from CSJP and the generous time donated by volunteers, the Source provides a daily homework programme open to any primary school students from the surrounding area. The programme runs daily from Monday to Friday 3pm – 5pm
HEART: 4 times a week students participate in two HEART Programmes – Level 1 Housekeeping and Level 1 Data Operations (basic computer classes). This is a 9-month programme. The next call for applicants will be late July/early August 2013.
Karate Classes: Every Saturday the Source hosts Youth Karate Class from 2pm – 4pm with Sensei Kiyoshi Beam. The class is very popular and though enrollment is limited, stop on by to learn more about this exciting programme.
